Working Group

The Privacy Working Group aims at raising the voice of the industry on the most relevant issues related to privacy and establishes a common opinion to provide input to regulators - namely on the topics of ePrivacy Regulation, Privacy Aspects CBDC, and blockchain EDPB.

What does the group do?

Conduct a broad survey to substantiate the efforts and understand in more detail how blockchain projects perceive privacy regulations, in particular, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and how it impacts them.

Understand how privacy regulation around the globe impacts on the blockchain (projects).

Strengthen the connection with the European Data Protection Board (EDBP) and input on the expected opinion/guidance on blockchain.

What is the WG's vision?

Promote sustainable and high-impact use of blockchain when it comes to improving data privacy.

What is the WG's vision?

Gather mutual interest amongst INATBA members to obtain more guidance and particular help from the regulators. This may lead to issued guidance, on the European level from the EDPB, change of current regulations and taking this key technology into account when drafting new regulations

Co-chairs

Ash Costello

Ash Costello is a Privacy Attorney who advises on privacy matters in Europe and the USA including GDPR and CCPA, specialising in privacy in blockchain. She works with TechGDPR as a part-time consultant specializing in blockchain matters, documentation review, and international data transfers. She is a member of the Expert Panel of the European Blockchain Observatory.

Paola Heudebert

Paola Heudebert is the Head of Legal and Public Affairs of Archipels and member of the New York Bar. She led international conferences on the GDPR compliance issues of blockchain technology, notably at the International Privacy and Security Forum, and undertook several academic reflections on the legal issues raised by DLTs.
